Downton Abbey's Lady Sybil ~ Teacup painting, Watercolour & Ink
By Artist Laura Leeder, July 2017 SOLD July 31st
Lady Sybil is the 4th teacup painting in the Downton Abbey Series. I chose this deco patterned teacup as this style represented the changing times after World War 1. It's simpler form and angular lines started appearing on china and of course fashion and in architecture throughout England and Europe, and later in America. As a young and open minded lady during this time of change, Lady Sybil would likely have been attracted to this new and simpler style of design appearing around her. The less formal and fresh color of the coral rose is perfect for a young lady and represents both Sybil's strength and her first love.
I am pleased to say that this painting has sold to a dear client and art collector in California.
