Sweet Garden Memories
I grow plants for many reasons: to please my eye or to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience, for novelty or for nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow.

Hummingbird Brunch ~ Watercolour, Acrylic & Ink
By Artist Laura Leeder
Size: 11" x 14" mounted on panel
My husband and I moved from the country 2 years ago into a "fixer upper" with a lovely corner lot. We inherited a beautiful yard with mature trees, shrubs and flower beds that are in dire need of attention. I have always planted lilies in every garden that I own and this brilliant orange daylily was the first one I planted in a newly tended section of my new garden. It's a favorite with the hummingbirds and adds a powerful punch of color among'st all the greenery.
The idea for this painting came about as I worked in my garden planting bulbs and daylilies to be enjoyed this coming spring. It brings back so many sweet memories of time spent in my flower beds over the years with hummingbirds as my companions. I can see them buzzing about from flower to flower tasting the nectar of each.
