My first forest painting! I'm calling this one done. I will put it away for a few days and then determine if it need's any color adjusting. I added the floral patterning on the trees, as I am after-all, a floral painter! This painting presented very interesting challenges for me. Such as: creating patterns on the trees that complimented each other and felt unique. And, thinking about branch placement, I tried to create an interesting pattern that was in keeping with my stylized work, and not a true representation. I am eager to do another forest painting, but, first, I've a floral and a teacup painting waiting to be completed!
This technique is not new....there are many artist's incorporating doodle patterns in their paintings. One artist who does this very well and whose work I greatly admire and have been working with is Sandrine Pelissier.
This painting was inspired by our summer retreat in the forest near Kootenay Lake. (see previous blog post)
We share our woods with a few other vacationers and a returning family of deer who frequent our forest and mountain region.
