In Full Bloom: Nature’s Invitation to Pause and Replenish

Updated: 13 hours ago

May has arrived in full bloom here in the Creston Valley, and with it comes a gentle shift—from the brisk pace of spring cleanup to the quieter rhythm of simply being. After many hours spent tidying garden beds, trimming shrubs, and preparing for the season ahead, I’m feeling a mix of contentment and that all-too-familiar spring soreness. My muscles may be tired, but my spirit is full.

In between the work, I’ve made a conscious effort to rest. I’ve been enjoying slower afternoons in my lounge chair, coffee in hand, taking in the beauty around me. The hum of bees, chirping birds, and the buzz of hummingbirds arriving to sip from the feeders—along with the soft rustling of trees in the breeze—all nourish my heart and feed my soul. My Lilac bushes and Dogwood Tree are in full bloom. The Tulips and daffodils have begun to fade, making way for the next round of blooms—peonies, columbines, iris, and more. Everything is stretching, greening, and blossoming.

“May is a month of rebirth, of renewed vitality and energy.”

In the studio and in the garden, May asks me to breathe a little deeper and move a little slower. The earth is stretching, greening, blooming—and I feel the same invitation to unfold gently into this new season.

🛍️ A Weekend Getaway & Spring Gallery Visits

Last weekend, I took a short trip to Invermere for a bit of R&R—and what a gift it was! This charming town always leaves me feeling inspired. Invermere is home to several wonderful galleries and gift shops that I love to wander through. While there, I also took time to sit at the beach along the shore of Windermere Lake to watch those brave enough to dip their toes into the cool water. I do some of my best brainstorming here at the beach!

I’m thrilled to share that Village Arts in Invermere is now carrying a selection of my fine art cards! This is a lovely co-op gallery filled with handcrafted treasures by Canadian artisans, and I’m delighted to have my work included.

My weekend adventure didn’t end there. I also stopped in at Funky Junk Stained Glass & More shop in Radium to refresh my card and gift inventory, including several new small paintings. This eclectic shop is filled with the vibrant stained glass art of owner Christi, along with an array of handmade items by local artisans and crafters. If you’re ever passing through Radium, be sure to stop in and say hello to Christi—her shop is a gem.

On my return trip home, I made a final stop at The Laundromat Art Gallery in Kimberley, where I replenished my art cards and coasters. Irma, the owner, has created a warm and welcoming space that celebrates nature and creativity—a perfect place to find a meaningful gift or a painting to brighten your home.

🌼 May’s Gentle Reminder

“As May unfolds, let courage awaken your dreams. Believe in your magic and soar.”

As the trees bud and the flowers bloom, may we also allow ourselves to open—softly, bravely, and with trust in our own timing. Whether you’re tending a garden, planning your next creative project, or simply enjoying a quiet moment outdoors, I hope you’ll take time this month to care for yourself and savor the beauty all around you.

With joy (and muddy garden gloves),

Laura🥰
