Gardening and Art: Cultivating Inspiration.

“The very best relationship has a gardener and a flower. The gardener nurtures and the flower blooms.”

~Carole Radziwill

In my garden studio, the lines between art and creation blur, creating a seamless tapestry of inspiration. As May unfurls it’s petals, I find myself immersed in a world of vibrant colors, flourishing blooms and heady scents.

My lush garden landscape attracts some of my favorite birds, including chickadees, sparrows, finches, nuthatches, flickers, hairy woodpeckers, doves and jays, to name a few. The return of the hummingbirds, delighting at our nectar feeders, is a special treat. A pair of crows have been visiting almost daily as well for the past few years. They greet us with a either a “hello or meow”, depending on the day!

Spending time outdoors daily, I am soothed by birdsong and the antics of my feathered visitors. The dance of sunlight and shadows on my canvas echoes the intricate beauty of nature outside my window.

“In the presence of a dogwood tree, one can’t help but feel a sense of wonder and awe.”

This season, my artistic muse finds solace in the flowering trees and shrubs of my garden. The creamy white blossoms of dogwoods, the vibrant purples of lilacs, the deep purples of irises, and the soft pinks of peonies all inspire me. Each brushstroke is a reverent nod to these blossoms, capturing their essence on my canvas.

I'm excited to announce that some of these favorite birds, like the jays, hummingbirds, doves, flickers, and chickadees, will be featured in a new series of paintings I am working on. Stay tuned for more updates and a glimpse of these upcoming works!

“The blossoms of a dogwood tree are like delicate petals suspended in the air, bringing beauty to all who behold them.”

"A garden to walk in and immensity to dream in—what more could he ask? A few flowers at his feet and above him the stars."

~Victor Hugo
