Sunshine, Songbirds & A Gift For You

Everywhere I walk these days, I’m greeted by the golden glow of sunflowers. Gabby trots happily by my side as I pause to admire their tall stalks, wide faces, and intricate centers. We didn’t plant any in our yard this year, but I’m grateful to find them blooming all around our neighborhood.

Last summer, we grew a row of cheerful sunflowers in our garden, and I loved watching them follow the sun, brightening each day with their bold petals. I found myself especially fascinated by their centers — those spirals and patterns are a playground for creativity!

A Peek Into the Studio

That inspiration eventually led me to create Sunflower Serenade, a mixed media painting of a sunflower with two playful songbirds perched among the petals. It combines two of my favorite subjects — garden blooms and birds — and brings together everything I love about late summer and early fall: warmth, light, and the gentle rhythm of nature.

When I look at this painting, it instantly lifts my spirits, reminding me of sunlit afternoons in the garden and the cheerful company of birdsong.
